Watching Rocky III the other night, I was reminded about just how much this movie was an insight into the culture of 1982.  It had it all:  Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, Carl Weathers before Action Jackson, and some rockin’ aviator sunglasses.

It also had the gayest 3:25 ever put on celluloid.  I paraphrase Homer J. Simpson when I say “I like my beer cold, my TV loud and my montages FA-LAMING.”  Holy hell.  I’m not even going to try to elaborate on the man love going on between Rocky and Apollo.  Youtube says it all.

Also, notice the look on Rocky’s face immediately after he beats Apollo in the race but before they hug it out in the surf.  In that 3/4 of a second, he looks like little Jimmy who persevered against all odds and took a bronze in the 50 meter dash in the Special Olympics.
